BEIJING, China – Following the successful launch of the all-electric CLA, Mercedes-Benz and Momenta have announced a major milestone in their partnership.
By combining "Mercedes-Benz Standards" with "Chinese Speed," the two companies are delivering a sophisticated, safety-first driving experience specifically tailored to the unique complexities of Chinese urban environments.
Redefining Urban Navigation
The Urban Pilot system utilizes end-to-end large models trained on massive amounts of real-world Chinese road data. This allows the all-electric CLA to navigate scenarios that typically challenge automated systems, including:
Complex Intersections: Smoothly handling irregular junctions and unprotected turns.
Narrow Passages: Maneuvering through tight streets and bypassing spatial obstacles.
Dynamic Hazards: Calmly managing roundabouts, U-turns, and "ghost probes" (sudden pedestrians or obstacles).
Intelligence Meets Efficiency: The 2025 Parking Suite
The co-created "all-in-one" parking package has achieved a 98% success rate. This generation is 11 seconds faster on average than previous versions.
A standout feature, Tracked Reverse, allows drivers to "undo" a wrong turn into a dead end with one click. The system can autonomously reverse and avoid obstacles on paths up to 0.8 meters wider than the vehicle itself.
Looking Ahead: 2026 and Beyond
The evolution of Mercedes-Benz’s intelligent driving suite is accelerating in 2026. Future upgrades will include:
Momenta R6 Integration: Urban and highway pilot assistance will be upgraded using the R6 large reinforcement learning model.
Expanded Fleet: The technology will be installed on multiple high-profile models, including the all-new pure-electric GLC SUV.
New Features: Mass production and delivery of "Memory Parking" will begin - one of many new features being rolled out.
