August 18, 2025 – Today, SAIC General Motors (SAIC-GM) and Momenta, a global leader in intelligent driving technology, announced to strengthen their partnership. The two parties will work closely together in the field of advanced driver assistance, jointly developing solutions that better understand Chinese roads and better suit Chinese drivers.
The first smart luxury sedan under Buick’s premium new energy sub-brand Zhi Jing (called Electra overseas) — the Buick Electra L7 — will make its debut equipped with Momenta's R6 Flywheel Big Model. Leveraging industry-leading driver assistance algorithms and reinforcement learning built on an end-to-end framework, the L7 will deliver “seamless” urban NOA (Navigation-on-Autopilot) and one of the industry’s first “One-Click On-the-Move Parking” feature, bringing a top-tier intelligent driving experience.
Momenta's R6 Flywheel Big Model is an industry-leading advanced driver assistance system — and the first to achieve true mass production based on reinforcement learning in an end-to-end framework in China. Deeply integrating perception, planning, and decision-making, it harnesses 70 million high-value data clips and over 3 billion kilometers of real-world driving data. By simulating vast and complex driving scenarios — especially those unique to China such as sudden lane cuts, hidden pedestrians emerging from between vehicles, and unprotected left turns — the model dramatically raises driving performance ceilings, enabling calm handling of challenging situations.
Learning from tens of millions of kilometers of real-world data and distilling the experience of seasoned drivers, the model optimizes its decisions continuously — aiming not only to match human capability, but to surpass it.
With the R6 Flywheel Big Model, the Electra L7 delivers all-scenario intelligent driving assistance, from complex road navigation to precision parking. Its capabilities evolve continuously via OTA (Over-the-Air) updates, ensuring it remains among the industry’s top tier in both assisted driving and automated parking.
Redefining Experience
"Seamless" Urban NOA: The Electra L7 can confidently handle lane cuts, complex roundabouts, toll booths, pedestrian crossings, and navigation-based lane changes — making every road smoother to drive. Powered by the R6 Flywheel Big Model, the L7 holds improved efficiency in maneuvers like lane yielding and temporary lane borrowing. For instance, when encountering a stationary vehicle blocking the lane, the system can safely plan a temporary detour to pass through narrow sections.
Highway toll stations have long been a challenge for urban NOA — with wide unmarked areas, complex split exits, and varying ETC (Electronic Toll Collection) lane layouts. The R6 Flywheel Big Model enables smooth, accurate ETC passage: precisely recognizing barrier locations, making autonomous pass-through decisions, and navigating even without lane markings. The result is a seamless experience from entry to exit.
One-click on-the-move parking: Traditional APA (Automated Parking Assist) often requires stopping, pressing a button, and performing multiple steps. The on-the-move parking feature detects spaces in real time while driving, plans the optimal trajectory, and parks in one fluid motion — eliminating the need to stop or select spaces manually.
The Electra L7 also offers all-space parking assistance, with customizable modes, extensive scenario coverage, and strong memory parking capabilities. Even in challenging mechanical parking garages that intimidate experienced drivers, it can achieve precise parking — eradicating “parking anxiety” once and for all.
Empowered by SAIC-GM: The Xiaoyao super-fusion vehicle architecture, built on 28 years of local R&D, integrates advanced chassis, powertrain, body, and intelligent cabin technologies, providing a robust foundation for the safe and efficient deployment of top-tier intelligent assisted driving systems.
